Not the original Supergirl, (that would be Magical Super-girl that Jimmy Olsen wished into existence back in 1958) but the best loved Super-girl, Kara Zor-El, Happy Birthday, She made her first appearance in Action Comics #252, published in May 1959. She was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino as Superman’s cousin and a female counterpart to the iconic superhero.
